Texas Trip

Kristi and I and our babies went to Texas to visit my parents.

We started out great and Emma and Jackson did really good.

Our flight there was only supposed to be 2 1/2 hours but it ended up being 7 hours!!! It was quite horrible.  When we got to Dallas they said there is a major storm and lots of lightning we will have to circle for a while.  Well we finally started running out of fuel so then we had to fly up to Wichita Kansas and refuel.  Then we flew around Oklahoma and southern Texas until they said we could land.  They wouldn't let Kristi and I sit together, I was about in the middle and Kristi was in the back.  Kristi got sick and had to quickly hand her baby off to a stranger and run to the bathroom.  She said it was very claustrophobic and  hot in the back of the plane.  I ran out of bottles and they ran out of water to hand out to people.  Other than that it was okay.  We were absolutely amazed how good the babies did and so was everyone else.  I don't think Jackson cried once! Thankfully we have a good Mom and Dad who said they would drive to Kansas and get us if we needed them too but they just had to wait at the airport for 4 hours.

We finally arrived at Mom and Dads apartment and we were so happy to relax and let the babies play.

Dad and Jackson instantly had their connection.  Jackson followed Dad around the whole time, he would even choose his Grandpa over his Mom!

Mom was just so happy to see the babies and they were happy to see her.  They defiantly hadn't forgotten them.  I think you will always know your Grandmas and Grandpas.

We went out the next day and saw lots of things.  It was absolutely freezing cold though.  I think the rain and humidity made it feel twice as cold as it was.

Some people in Mom and Dads ward let us borrow a bunch of baby things that they had from having twins, so it worked out wonderfully.   We walked around the mall for quite a while.  It was huge with lots to see, including an ice skating rink.

The next day we went out to Fort Worth to see the sights. By this time both babies were getting little colds and would just gasp when we would take them outside.  So mom volunteered to stay in the truck with them while me, Dad and Kristi walked around the town.  We got to watch the cattle drive that goes right down the street.

Kristi and Dad are spazes  and rode the "quarter horse" (get it?! - I just though of that)

Then at night Mom and Dad got kicked out of their bedroom and slept on an air mattress in the living room with the babies.  Just kidding, we didn't make them sleep with the babies and  we tried to sleep in the living room but they insisted.

The morning came all to quickly and all to early when we had to leave.  We had to get up at 3am our time to make it to the airport.  We just kept Emma and Jackson in their jamies until we got to our gate and then got them dressed.

I don't know why I look so happy so early in the morning but we did have a great time seeing Mom and Dad.  It was wonderful to see where they are and what they are doing.  I know they are helping so many people and they are working so hard and are so busy.  We miss them but we are also glad they are willing to do what they are doing.  What great parents we have.

I finally let Jackson get down on the disgusting floor and crawl.  He was very happy about it.  The trip home was much less eventful. We had  a layover in Houston but it still took much less time than it did to get there.  What fun.
(Dad posted a lot more pictures on his blog of our trip if you want to see more.)
